Dreamforce is one of the world’s largest tech conferences, with this year being billed as the world’s largest AI conference. With an audience of over 40,000 Salesforce customers and prospects, the conference is set to be a whirlwind three days of insight, expertise and networking.

For ISV founders, Dreamforce also represents one of the biggest lead generation opportunities of the year. Whether you’ve signed up as a sponsor, paid for a booth or are simply attending with a view to meeting potential customers, it’s important to be prepared and ready to make the most of your time at Dreamforce.

We’ve below outlined some of our top tips for a successful Dreamforce.

Knowing what success looks like for your business

Depending on the size of your business and your presence at Dreamforce, what you consider to be a successful event may vary quite dramatically. We suggest sitting down with your team in advance and outlining your key goals and how you will measure success.

These goals don’t need to be overly complicated or too granular, but just specific enough that they help you to focus your time and efforts over the three days.

Promote your presence in advance

With so many exhibitors and attendees gathered together, your prospects may struggle to find you. Don’t rely on chance, and ensure you’ve shared information about your presence at Dreamforce with your network in advance of the event. That could include social posts, an email out to your database and even a landing page for prospects to book a meeting with you. All of these efforts can help you to optimize your time at Dreamforce.

Rehearse your script; you never know who you’re going to meet

The great and the good from the Salesforce ecosystem will be in San Francisco for Dreamforce and it’s often cited as a key milestone in a buyer’s decision-making process. It’s important that you and your team can succinctly articulate the problem you’re solving and why your product stands out from the competition. Practice your elevator pitch in advance!

Plan your events & parties in advance

With so many events and parties taking place in San Francisco over the 3 days, it’s vital that you review the schedule and plan your time accordingly. Follow-up with your leads. Quickly.

After what will be a busy few days, there’s a temptation to sit back and relax after a job well done. However, it’s absolutely crucial that you follow-up on all the conversations you had at Dreamforce in a timely manner.

Within a week, people will be back to their daily grind and you may have missed the boat on that sales opportunity, so follow-up quickly. It’s important to note that there will be lots of emails flying around after the event, so be as succinct and specific as possible in your follow-up.

Finally, enjoy the experience.

Dreamforce only comes around once a year, and after a few years of hybrid conferences, it’s exciting to all be back together for this year’s event. Make sure you find some time for you and your team to enjoy the experience.
